Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Baseview ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at baseview.co and our report services. We take your privacy seriously and have written this in plain English so it's easy to understand.

If anything is unclear, contact us at support@baseview.co.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

When you create an account, submit a report request, or contact us, you provide information directly. This includes:

Your name and email address (when you create an account). Business details you enter into our forms, such as your business name, industry, location, number of employees, website URL, goals, and challenges. Financial information you upload for financial reviews, such as income statements and balance sheets. Any messages you send us through our contact form or email.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit our site, we automatically collect certain technical information:

Your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device type. Pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and how you got to our site (for example, through a search engine or a link). Cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5 below).

Information from third parties

When building your report, we may look up publicly available information about your business, such as your website content, business listing details, and publicly visible competitor information. This is information anyone could find with a web search — we don't purchase data about you from brokers or other private sources.

Information from QuickBooks (Intuit)

If you connect your QuickBooks Online account, we access your accounting data through Intuit's official API so we can build your financial dashboard. With your authorization, we retrieve your profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reports, your general ledger transaction detail, your aged receivables and payables, and your customer, vendor, and item lists. We use this data only to generate and update your dashboard. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

To produce the written analysis in your dashboard, we send figures derived from this data to our AI provider, Anthropic, under a commercial agreement that prohibits training their models on your data. This is the same protection described under "AI services" below.

You can disconnect QuickBooks at any time from your dashboard. When you disconnect, we immediately stop pulling new data and revoke our access to your QuickBooks account. We then permanently delete the QuickBooks data we have stored, and the analysis derived from it, within 30 days. If you reconnect within that period, your data is kept so your dashboard keeps working.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

Build your reports. Your business and financial information is used to generate your customized review. This is the core reason we collect it.

Operate your account. Your email and login credentials let you sign in, view your reports, and manage your account.

Process payments. Payment information is handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment but do not see or store your full credit card number.

Communicate with you. We send you emails about your report status, account activity, and important service updates. We may also send occasional product updates, which you can opt out of at any time.

Improve our service. We use aggregate, non-identifying usage data (like which pages are most visited) to understand how people use Baseview and to make it better.

3. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your information. We never have, and we never will.

We share information only in these limited situations:

Service providers. We use third-party tools to operate Baseview. These include Stripe for payment processing, email delivery services for transactional emails, web hosting providers, and analytics tools. These providers only receive the information they need to perform their specific function and are contractually required to protect it.

AI services. To generate your report, we send your business information to AI language model providers (currently OpenAI and Anthropic). This information is used solely to produce your report. We do not allow these providers to use your information to train their models. We review the data practices of any AI provider we work with.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority — for example, in response to a valid subpoena.

Business transfers. If Baseview is acquired, merged, or sells its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

4. How we protect your information

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password storage, and access controls that limit who on our team can view customer information.

That said, no system is perfectly secure. While we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

5. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies (small files stored on your device) for a few specific purposes:

Essential cookies keep you logged in and make the site work properly. These are necessary and cannot be turned off.

Analytics cookies help us understand how people use our site (for example, which pages are most visited). We currently use Google Analytics for this purpose. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not serve ads on Baseview.

6. Your rights and choices

You have control over your information. Here's what you can do:

Access your data. You can view the business information you've submitted through your Baseview account at any time.

Update your information. You can update your account details and business information through your account.

Download your reports. You can download PDF copies of any reports you've paid for.

Delete your account. You can request that we delete your account and associated data by emailing support@baseview.co. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Some information may be retained as required by law (for example, payment records for tax and accounting purposes).

Opt out of emails. Transactional emails (report status, payment confirmations) are part of the service and cannot be opted out of while your account is active. You can unsubscribe from any promotional or product-update emails at any time using the link in those emails.

7. Data retention

We keep your account information and reports for as long as your account is active, so you can access them whenever you need to.

If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information and report data within 30 days. We may retain certain records longer where required by law, such as payment transaction records for tax and accounting compliance.

Aggregate, non-identifying analytics data (like total page views) may be retained indefinitely because it cannot be linked back to you.

8. Children's privacy

Baseview is designed for business owners and is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. State-specific rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under state law.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, email support@baseview.co.

Washington residents (WPA): You have rights to access, correct, and delete your personal data, and to opt out of certain data processing. To exercise these rights, email support@baseview.co.

Other states: If you're in a state with consumer privacy laws (Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others), similar rights may apply. Contact us and we'll work with you to honor your request.

We will respond to all verified privacy requests within 30 days.

10. International visitors

Baseview is based in the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. If we make significant changes to how we handle your information, we'll notify you by email or through your account.
